The Two Faces of Ed Poor

Ah, good ol’ Ed Poor – user 188 on Wikipedia, as he always tells everybody. Of course, he somehow neglects to mention the fact that he overstepped his authority there and was summarily stripped of his rights., reducing him to a mere, point-of-view-pushing peon. (After due process was followed of course – not on a whim, as it’s done on CP.) Needless to say, somebody who loves abusing authority feels right at home on Conservapedia., where Ed is one of the sysops. Here he displays his complete ignorance of mathematics (he applies the “if-I-can’t-understand-it-I-delete-it” method of editing), extreme homophobia and racism, misogyny (his article on CP entitled “Women wearing Pants” has to be read to be believed) as well as being CP’s token Moonie.

But more on that later, because he is probably worth a blog on his own. However, he appears to lead a very odd double existence within his mind. The first part doesn’t seem too bad. He deletes a picture, citing “a little bit too sexy for a “family” site”. Fair enough… CP does purport to be a “family friendly” (if your surname is Addams) site. However, Google cache tells me the image that was deleted was the one shown alongside. Clearly Ed finds cute cartoon girls bad for his blood pressure. One more little titbit needs mentioning. He also edited their Jack the Ripper article, replacing the wiki-linked word “prostitutes” with “women”. The reason he gave for this was “Don’t make it so lurid – I’ve got kids.”

Still with me? Good, because now we get to the fun bit. Remember I said he thinks of CP as a “family friendly” site? Remember I mentioned he’s just a teeny bit homophobic? Stand back and watch as this maestro adds the following to the article on “Gay Bowel Syndrome” (which is hardly family friendly to start with): “men engaged in medically risky sex practices (such as rimming).” (Ed’s edition in red). (I see the original entry has been magically vanished over there, so try this link instead.) Now what makes this really creepy is that not only does somebody who uses the nickname “Uncle Ed” on Wikipedia know about rimming… the moron wikilinks it! In other words, he’s expecting that the family friendly encyclopaedia – which can’t have picture of cute cartoon maids – to have an article on rimming! Of course, CP does have an article on Bestiality, and I’ll give you one guess who created it , and one guess who originally called it “Sex with animals.” Family friendly, indeed, Ed Poor. Update. Ah, good ol’ Ed never fails to disappoint, as he creates a redirect… helpfully redirecting “Hard-core Pornography” to “Pornography”. Obviously, those Conservatives are very partial to what kind of porn they search for.

Now, what I would like to know, is how does somebody who finds the word “prostitute” lurid (and obviously harmful to his kids) manages to have noooo problem at all adding “rimming” and “sex with animals” to Conservapedia. Maybe one day he’ll deign to respond and tell us, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

Oh and if you’re surprised by the content – or rather, the lack thereof, don’t be. This is a man who claims to be the be all of wiki admins, but who considers one-sentence articles to be sufficient. Unless he’s live-blogging a Star Trek episode. His entry for Mudd’s Women is another classic example of his idea of “family friendly”.

So here we have not just another example of the mental midgets that run Conservapedia, but also the fact that we just can’t make this stuff up.

About PsyGremlin

PsyGremlin is a former Conservapedia sysop (although the position was earned nefariously), stand up comedian, DJ, and is currently a self-employed financial adviser, who impersonates a responsible adult at least 5 days a week. However, highlighting and poking fun at the crazies out there remains his first love. Well besides pork crackling. And custard. And cricket.
