John Patti – Parodist, or Finally Losing it?

Ok, this is one for the “Say what?!” department. Sadly I didn’t write this yesterday, because I see John Patti has been using his oversight abilities to cover up his insanity, but luckily it has been preserved on Rationalwiki’s “What is Going on at Conservapedia” page.

Basically, for some reason, little Johnny-boy decided to redirect the “Homosexual Obsession” article (yes, the “family friendly” encyclopaedia has such an entry) to – of all things – their article on  Sarah Palin. Now I know she’s obsessed with hunting wolves from a helicopter… but homosexuality? Maybe Bristol’s batting for the other team now. Not content with that, he then went on to create the “Obsessed Homosexual” article – claiming it to be the “temporary location of homosexual obsession.” Now, one doesn’t have to be an honours English student to realise that there’s a rather big difference between “homosexual obsession” and “obsessed homosexual.” But clearly not in what passes for Johnny’s mind.

But wait there’s more. Then he creates “Homosexuality obsession”, which goes on to describe “homosexual obsession. Needless, to say, Conservapedia’s resident hands-on expert on homosexuality, Ken DeMyer, has since added his voice to the mess. Once again, I have to ask – what’s the difference between “homosexual obsession” and “homosexuality obsession” – especially when the latter article starts “Homosexual obsession is a term often used to…” (I’ll spare you the rest of it.)

However, it gets better and luckily I got in before his deceitful use of oversight did. Now he replaces “Sacred cow” with a redirect to Sarah Palin. Ok, the cow bit I get, but sacred? Now we have “homosexual obsession” and “sacred cow” basically linking to the article on Sarah Palin. WTF??? Maybe his conscience got the better of him, or decided to spread the insanity, because he later changed it so that “sacred cow” now redirects to “Michelle Bachman”. Once again, WTF?? Whoops, then he redirects it to “Glenn Beck”.

However, his odd editing pattern hasn’t come to an end yet, because now CP’s parodist-in-situ creates “Cowtow” – which is all well and fine, until you see his edit comment, which reads “temporary location of sacred cow”. Now, I know CP seems to prefer the Merriam-Webster dictionary over the OED, but even there it’s impossible to see just how “sacred cow” relates in any way to “cowtow”, except for the fact that they contain the word “cow.” Actually, is “cowtow” even a word – I thought it was kowtow. maybe it’s something they do at his redneck gatherings – somewhere in-between the tractor pull and lighting the cross.

With Terry Koeckritz surprisingly quiet these days, one wonders if little John Patti hasn’t finally flipped and started to trash Andy’s blog. I see he does explain it on his talkpage, by saying, “It’s technical (sic) related, this is just a counter measure for unauthorized bots.” which is a bit odd, when you consider that Conservapedia only has one bot – and that belongs to Ed Poor. If Conservapedia have put Ohio’s Mr. X-Ray in charge of “technical” gawd help them.

About PsyGremlin

PsyGremlin is a former Conservapedia sysop (although the position was earned nefariously), stand up comedian, DJ, and is currently a self-employed financial adviser, who impersonates a responsible adult at least 5 days a week. However, highlighting and poking fun at the crazies out there remains his first love. Well besides pork crackling. And custard. And cricket.

This one stopped me in my marauding tracks when I first saw it. While Ken “homoschooling” DeMyer is a bipolar manic obsessive and Ed “Piss” Poor is an sexually-repressed idiot with delusions of grandeur, JPratt is just an out and out utter right-wing religious loony and probably the closest to Andy Schlafly of the current gauleiters at Conservapedia. The only difference is that Schlafly had an Ivy league education, while it’s hard to tell whether JPratt had any education at all.

The scary thing is – as loony as JPatt comes across – it would appear as if he went to Kent State. Whether or not he graduated is another matter. However, it makes his behaviour (not to mention abuse of English) even more inexplicable. (if, indeed this is him :

Well seeing as the first thing I was greeted with on their website was a picture of the football team’s quarterback, maybe academic qualifications aren’t a high priority at Kent State.
