Proof We Can’t Make This Up

Sometimes Conservapedia is just so wonderfully funny and broken that there is absolutely no need for me to make something up about them. Erm… not that I do anyway, of course! Today’s exhibit could well have been the result of a slip of the finger. However, given the general stupidity on Conservapedia, I somehow doubt it.

Given that the article stood, as above, from 10 October 2008, to 9 August 2010, it’s fairly safe to assume that nobody saw anything wrong with it.

Thankfully, somebody has stepped in to correct it. Now in typical, Conservapedia style, it reads, “Muslin is a type of cotton fabric.” Certainly a lot more concise than Wikipedia’s article.

About PsyGremlin

PsyGremlin is a former Conservapedia sysop (although the position was earned nefariously), stand up comedian, DJ, and is currently a self-employed financial adviser, who impersonates a responsible adult at least 5 days a week. However, highlighting and poking fun at the crazies out there remains his first love. Well besides pork crackling. And custard. And cricket.

No, the really funny bit was that it use to be directed to Muslim, someone changed it to Islam to fix a double redirect. After another person came along and noticed the redirect they “fixed it” and made the same mistake, now that is funny.

    • cpmonitor says:

Oh buggery, I missed that bit. Still, nice to have a genuine laugh at CP, instead of staring horrified at Ken’s efforts.

  2. Jewdolf says:

    I don’t get it

  3. Norseman says:

Muslin is… well… look it up on the web.

Conservapedia’s article on it was dead wrong, thinking it had something to do with Islam/Muslims, for nearly two years.

    • Jewdolf says:

Yeah, that’s kinda strange. Not really outrageous, it’s a pretty understandable mistake. Does it really warrant that much ridicule? There are much more absurd mistakes on CP. Stop being asshats and mocking everything they do indiscriminately.

      • cpmonitor says:

Oh come on. I have to be indiscriminate. After all everything on that site is either wrong, made-up bullshit or not even wrong. If I wasn’t indiscriminate in highlighting their rubbish, or their actual behaviour, I’d be blogging 24/7.

I’m going to assume that you aren’t too familiar with CP, because if you were, “Does it really warrant that much ridicule?” would be rhetorical.

        • Jewdolf says:

You assume wrong. I’ve been visiting CP for laughs ever since the Lewis Black segment on TDS highlighted it.

        • Jewdolf says:

Also, I’m not trying to be an ass, but I don’t think you realise what “indiscriminate” means.

          • cpmonitor says:

It’s very possible. And you’re right, it wasn’t an outrageous thing, but it’s nice to have a break now and again.
