So… there’s been another tragic mass shooting in the USA. Now, I could use this post to talk about gun control and the second amendment. But I’m not going to. A nation is mourning; people have lost loved ones; others are suffering in hospital. And it’s simply far too soon to speculate on a motive behind the killer’s actions.
At this point, I’d like to post an excerpt from a Facebook post made by The Thinking Atheist:
Every time an incident like this happens – Columbine, Virginia Tech, Aurora – it feels like the fabric of sanity has ripped to shreds, and we say to each other, “What is this crazy world coming to?”
Then we see the opportunists politicize the tragedy for their own gains, and our grief turns to disgust.
Still, I’m convinced, even now, that the vast majority of people are good, committed to live good lives and do good things. The fact that so many grieve today is evidence that their moral compass is sound, that they know an abhorrent deed when they encounter it, that they recoil with disbelief and revulsion, and that the homicidal rampage of a lone madman doesn’t diminish the humanity (and humanitarianism) that happens every day in this world.
I agree – the people who politicise this tragedy to push their own agenda are opportunists. In fact, I think they are much, much more – they are unmitigated sub-human scumbag cunts, without a shred of human decency. They are soulless, heartless, brainless succubi, always looking for the opportunity to dance on the graves of the innocent, in order to push their own agenda.
The first of these sub-human imbeciles is Tea Party fuckhead (and Texas Representative… which speaks volumes actually) Louis Gohmert. Within hours of the shooting, without a single substantive fact, this maggot went on record as saying:
You know what really gets me, as a Christian, is to see the ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and then some senseless crazy act of terror like this takes place.
Yes, a man opens fire on strangers in a cinema, and it’s an attack on “Judeo-Christian beliefs.” When the host of the talk show mentioned that no motive was known yet, Gohmert just kept digging:
[It was] a terrorist act that could have been avoided if the country placed a higher value on God. People say … where was God in all of this? We’ve threatened high school graduation participations, if they use God’s name, they’re going to be jailed … I mean that kind of stuff. Where was God? What have we done with God? We don’t want him around. I kind of like his protective hand being present.
Yes, so God was pissed off, and once again, instead of writing a message saying “Hello!” in mile-high letters in the sky, He decides the best way to show his displeasure is to kill a few people in a Colorado cinema.
It makes me wonder just what kind of sick bastard these people worship.
I should also point out to the legislator that the First Amendment only prevents government led prayer forced on to the people. It does not restrict high school students from praying privately at their graduation. But why should I expect a right-wing fuckhead to have read the constitution he claims to love?
However, Gohmert isn’t done yet.
Well it does make me wonder, you know with all those people in the theater, was there nobody that was carrying that could’ve stopped this guy more quickly? I mean in Tyler, Texas, we had-my hometown-we had a shooter come in over a domestic matter, and just start shooting people. And it was a guy with a concealed carry-he got killed, but his shooting at this guy caused him to run and no doubt saved a lot of lives. He was a real hero.
These are clearly the words of an utter moron, who has never been under fire himself. Ignoring the fact that the “real hero” in his story ended up dead, with out actually killing the gunman, we’re talking about people in a darkened cinema, running headlong for the exits, a killer allegedly wearing body amour and who had thrown some sort of gas canisters into the cinema. And this dribbling simpleton wonders why people didn’t soot back?
Maybe we should have a reenactment. Give Gohmert a gun and see how he reacts when somebody starts shooting at him. Sadly, Gohmert is just one of the many morons elected into a position of influence, by an electorate that’s gone insane. Hopefully, they’ll come to their senses and send this excuse for a human back to the swamp he crawled out of.
Fortunately, our second scumbag doesn’t have much influence, but that doesn’t make him any less of a sub human piece of shit. I’m referring to racist bigot Andrew Schlafly, founder of right-wing hate blog, Conservapedia.
It’s not so much that he dances on graves – indeed this malodorous turd is the Fred Astaire of grave dancing – it’s the way he defends his grave dancing that makes him so awful.
Once again, within hours of the shooting, he was using his tragedy to push his own agenda. You see, Schlafly believes that there are four great evils in the world; atheism, public schools, video games and Facebook. He also takes great pleasure in attributing mass murders to any combination of these. You almost get the impression he waits, salivating for the next shooting to take place.
Schlafly believes in this so much, that he created the “Young mass murderers” page. For him, the important thing is their beliefs (all of which he attributes to atheism, public schools and violent video games) and how liberals react.
Just to give you an example of how fucked in the head this man is (possibly due to him overhearing his parents having a “communication problem” in their bedroom) he cites the liberal reaction to Marc Lépine’s spree as:
Ignore the personal background of the killer and instead use the massacre to push for stricter gun control and more laws concerning violence against women, and establish in Canada a National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
In case you didn’t know, Lépine was a rabid anti-feminist (like Schlafly) who killed 14 women at the college he attended. How dare those goddamn liberals do something about violence against women. Then again, given Schlafly’s attitude towards the girls he “teaches,” one isn’t really surprised that he can’t understand why people should be upset about violence against women.
What worse, is his blatant white washing of the details surrounding Anders Breivik. Happily ignoring all the evidence led during his trial, and the content of Breivik’s own manifesto, Schlafly quickly removes the following from his entry on Breivik:
a far-right ideologue, was driven by his hatred of Muslims, his belief that a “Muslim takeover” was imminent and what he saw as “cultural Marxism” and the failure of Norway’s ruling liberal party to halt immigration, calling them traitors.
so that the One True Conservative version reads:
Liked playing violent video games, and particularly liked “World of Warcraft” and “Modern Warfare 2”; he was possibly drawn to the imagery of knights by the “World of Warcraft” game; no evidence of regular church attendance or Bible-reading.
In his most sickening move yet, Schlafly went on to replaced the words “government camp for youth” – referring to the Labor Party camp where Breivik killed 68 people – with “government camp for youth.” You almost get the impression that Schlafly is happy that Breivik struck a blow against these kids who were being indoctrinated.
It’s also worth noting that Schlafly’s list of young mass murderers makes no mention of the 26-year-old Charles Whitman, the Texes Tower shooter, who killed 16 people. I wonder if the fact that he was an altar boy, Eagle Scout and US Marine has anything to do with that? Well, that and the fact that Schlafly is a fucking hypocrite.
However, getting back to the latest shooting, Schlafly immediately – and without any information – poses the question: “As in the Columbine massacre, was this perpetrator a violent video game player?“ It turns out that the killer was addicted to a video game – Guitar Hero. Schlafly, of course, neglects to mention this fact, referring only to “video games.” Likewise, Schlafly claims the killer took drugs before his spree, neglecting to mention that they were prescription drugs.
“He then highlights that the killer is studying for a Ph.D. at the University of Colorado. In fact he goes one step further, by saying:
Liberal education system produced the latest young mass murderer: “Colorado Batman Movie Shooting Suspect James Holmes Was PhD Student.”
For somebody who went to two Ivy League universities (and still made a failure of his life) to use studying at university as a basis is bizarre. It also shows the rampant anti-intellectualism of the man. Anything other than home schooling is evil. Of course, he has no answer to how parents are supposed to home school their children at university level or higher, but being a Republican, Schlafly probably wants a dumb electorate.
Best of all, Schlafly says he has the First Amendment right to do this:
The First Amendment protects the important right to speculate and ask questions.
So screw common decency – the Constitution gives Schlafly the right to act like a first-class, inhuman prick. Oh yes, and twisting everything to suit your bizarre worldview does not constitute speculation and asking questions.
I’m sure there are plenty of other unspeakable scumbags leaping on the same bus and I hope there’s a special place in hell for all of them.
I just want to give a special mention to Brian Macdonald, one of Schlafly’s hand-picked thugs on Conservapedia, who is always ready to show that there’s a fuckhead willing to stoop lower than Schlafly. I hope Macdonald ends up in the same hell as Schlafly, after a long and painful fight with colon cancer, for this little gem… that perfectly illustrates this little, little man’s ignorance and bigotry:
Neither would I. Unfortunately, the liberal left is eyeballing the right, especially Tea Party groups; but when the news comes out – and it is coming out now – we’re going to see a registered Democrat from a liberal college who couldn’t make it to a Ph’D in neuroscience, with a smile on his mug that would be a match for the Joker.
It’s probably also worth mentioning that this “Christian” site does not have a single comment relating to their thoughts, prayers, condolences, etc being with the victims of the shooting. Not one.
Instead, you have resident man-child, Ken Demyer, posting images of the Grim Reaper and a sausage grinder and gloating how atheism is dying and will be ground up. Stay classy, you conservative idiots.
